Missouri Rock Island Trail

Web Design

Missouri Rock Island Trail (MORIT) is a non-profit located in Missouri, aiming to preserve a currently inactive railroad, and converting it to hiking and biking trail. Their goal is to make a trail that almost spans the entire state, starting from Kansas City and ending just a few towns short of St. Louis. It’d end up being something around 200 miles long if completed to their vision.

MORIT just wanted something simple. Something to tell people who they are, provide a way for people to keep up with their progress, and to collect donations. First things first, we decided that a WordPress site would be the way to go. It’d allow them to make updates themselves, without having to get into code. Secondly, we decided that integrating MailChimp with the site would be an easy and affordable way for people to sign up for periodic email updates. Lastly, we decided that although there may be cheaper options, PayPal’s longstanding reputation would be the best way to handle the donations.

I also want to give a big thank you to Brian Parkinson, who’s pictures appear all over the website. You can check out more of his work on Flickr.
